Professional Agreements

New York Lactation Consultant Association (NYLCA) requires that any individual whose services are listed on our website:

  • accurately portray their professional qualifications

  • maintain current liability insurance

  • abide by the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk

    Substitutes

  • maintain current membership with NYLCA

  • attend at least one NYLCA event every 12 months

  • provide a link on their own website to the NYLCA website

NYLCA also requires that any lactation consultant whose services are listed on this website:

  • maintain board certified status on the registry of the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners

  • abide by the NYLCA Bill of Rights and Responsibilities for Clients Seeking a Lactation Consultant

  • be an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant to list office and/or home visits

  • demonstrate that you have appropriate training and experience in peer counseling and education to list Peer Support Groups.

  • demonstrate that you have appropriate training and experience in breastfeeding education to list Prenatal Breastfeeding Classes.

    Failure to comply with the above guidelines may result in removal from the website.

    You may contact the NYLCA Ethics Committee if you believe that a provider on this website is not complying with these terms.
